In his Will, William bequeathed the following:
• The goodwill, trade, with scales, weights, knives, hatchets and all other implements of trade and the market cart and harness to his sons DM Rowlands and John Rowlands and if John did not want the business to his son William Joel. If neither brother wanted a partnership it could go to DM Rowlands as sole owner.
• David Morgan £150, Tom Rowlands £50, Grandson William Jenkins (Rowlands) £50.
• To Joel Rowlands his father he gave 13/- every 3 months.
• Bryncarnedd that was tenanted to be given up.
• Annually Margaret was to be given £80 (to be paid biannually) to look after herself and the children. Also £1 per week during widowhood, reducing the amount by £5, if a child left the family home.
• He also made provision that the home was to be maintained and repaired. Margaret could enjoy the use of his furniture.
• £100 was to be given to each child of his second marriage on obtaining 21 years or the girls marrying.
• William also directed his trustees to divide the rest of his estate, after his wife’s death equally between his children -and they could have advance payments as long as it did not exceed ½ of what they would inherit.
• In a codicil he revoked DM Rowlands’ bequest unless David was prepared to give up his connection with the Salvation Army, because the bequest would go directly into the SA ‘Common Fund’.
• John Morgan, Rhiwarthenissa, Llanbadarn Fawr; John Morris, Blaencwrog, Llandeiniol, and David Morgan, Pier St were executors.
William is buried in Aberystwyth Cemetery in a double plot white stone grave.
